I moved to Taiwan in 2008.
From around 2015, I make works using materials from Dacun township where I live. This time, I took up local objects as the theme. In the old days, local materials were used as they were to make their own shapes. By doing so, I thought that I could connect my creative activities before moving to Taiwan with those after moving to Taiwan. This is because even before I moved, I was inspired by the environment in which I lived and turned it into a work. I thought that I could unify my thoughts by connecting the creations in Japan, Beijing, and Taiwan. This time, I decided to go out for a dog walk at night and was fascinated by the nighttime beauty of this place. Why was it a world I had never seen before? While searching for the reason, I noticed these round electric lights and was surprised by the large number of them. Around that time, I also saw many round objects made of wood in the dark streets of the night. This is the decoration of the railing of the stairs. I was surprised to be able to go to a place where a large amount of this was stored at a later date. Why on earth are there so many of these same round things in this city? In this research, I wanted to explore the mystery, ask why I was fascinated by this, and think about the cause.
